Sifu Mobile Parry vs Dodge: When to Use Each

By David Lin, Action Game Specialist

Every fight in Sifu Mobile is a conversation between two defenses. Speak the wrong one and you eat a combo; speak the right one and the fight bends your way.

What parry actually does

A timed parry negates damage and deals heavy structure damage to the attacker. Against bosses, parries are the fastest route to a guard break and a free punish. The window is generous on normal attacks and tight on fast ones.

What dodge actually does

Dodge avoids everything, including the unblockables parry cannot touch. It costs you positioning and tempo: you leave range, the enemy resets, and you start the exchange over. Against groups, dodge is survival; against single bosses, it is often a missed opportunity.

The per-boss rules

  • Fajar: dodge the flurries, parry the final swing.
  • Sean: dodge sweeps, parry staff combos in phase two.
  • Kuroki: dodge phase one, parry phase two rhythms.
  • Jinfeng: dodge forward through rope attacks, parry inside her guard.
  • Yang: parry the heavy finishers, dodge everything else until you learn the strings.

The rule: parry what you can reach, dodge what you cannot parry. Sweeps and grabs are always dodge.

Drill both in the prologue training until the choice is reflex, then test it against every boss.
